Ok, I'm done. I am officially a Derrick Rose fan. But it has nothing to do with the previous post about his measurements, or anything like that.
In a dream scenario, we'd have the Rose mentality in Beasley's body. But I digress.
But I will take the Rose mentality. From what we've heard from scouts, GM's, and Coach John Calipari, he's a winner. In high school and college he's lost like five games total. Everywhere the kids has played, winning is a way of life.
He is a student of the game, he works hard. Rose is one of those lead by example guards. He has a desire to get better, in all facets of the game. Be the best player he can.
I believe that he has the ability to grow into a vocal leader as well. It will be easy to do so, when everyone knows he is the best player on the team. He's unselfish, a guy you would love to play with because you will get the ball if you are in the right spot. He has been compared to Deron Williams, CP3, and Nash.
A big, strong guard, one of the fastest with the ball in the open court. Can get to any spot he wants on the floor, decent and improving mid range J, can rise up and dunk, and has the vision to make the right decisions. He's a one every 10 year type point guard prospects, I get it.
But I love his mentality. In interviews, he was all business, humble, and looks to be a professional. Nothing against Beasley, truly, but he's like Joakim Noah, more laid back, almost goofy.
Having said that--name a couple great players with that kind of attitude? Shaq? Well he's Shaq, and Beasely ain't Shaq--I think Chris Sheridan said that. Magic Johnson? He was a killer on the court, ask Bird or Isiah Thomas.
Jordan. Kobe. Isiah. Bird. Magic. Stockton. Kidd. Williams. Paul.
These are attitudes that Rose emits. While Beasley is kind of like Gilbert Arenas, Dwight Howard, Rasheed Wallace. These three a good players, but not winners. Gil is hurt, Dwight is just too nice ( did you see him in the playoffs?), and Wallace never went downlow.
I want that amazing desire to get better, to make teammates better, and to just win, not matter what. Rose and Beasely might be even in terms of talent, but Rose is a winner.
Now what do we do with the roster............
